• Plumbing and electrical connections are updated if required by the new tub.
• The walk-in tub is moved into place and leveled correctly.
• Connections are sealed, and walls or surrounds are finished or repaired.
• The installer fills and drains the tub to test for proper operation and leaks.

Depending on the complexity, installation can take from a single day to several days, especially if there are unexpected repairs or additional tile and wall work.

Before the installer leaves, they should show the user and family members how to:

• Open and close the door and verify that it is latched correctly.
• Use the controls to fill, drain, and adjust temperature.
• Operate jets or air systems, if the tub has them.
• Use built-in grab bars and the handheld shower safely.

This is a good time to ask questions about drain times, cleaning products, and how to respond if something does not work as expected.

• Rinse and wipe the tub regularly to prevent soap and mineral buildup.
• Follow any manufacturer instructions for cleaning jets or air systems.
• Check door seals and gaskets for wear or damage.
• Contact the installer if you notice leaks, unusual noises, or control problems.

Many companies provide a written warranty and recommend periodic service checks. Keeping records of installation and service can help if warranty claims are needed later.
